fantastic place

Keep in find it is a far drive from the airport - about 2 hours. Thorough Treasure Tours we book a limo up and back. They always say, "anything worth waiting for.....". And this is true with the Shakti Home. The home itself is fantastic, and the separate "quarters" in the rear is perfect for privacy - in fact its like a master retreat! cooking was great and service (cleaning up, making beds etc) was excellent.

It is stated that the small town is in walking distance, and it is, but - its very hot and about a 15 min walk, so we rented mopeds. This turned out to be great as they delivered them full of gas, and picked them up when we were done with them 3 days later So we go to see the island etc. Several places to eat in the nearby town and we did that typically at lunch, since dinner and breakfast were personally cooked for us at the home.

The beach was quite turbulent so swimming was not possible. It just began to clear for the previous very windy days, about the time we were leaving. There is a protected swimming area about 100 yards from the house and it was good.

The Treasure Tour group was fantastic about being sure we were happy and well taken care of. They came by the home to be sure all was ok, and offered to do anything that needed done. Cant get better than that!

So.... if you want a peaceful, quite, retreat - away from the hustle and hassle of the resorts with people selling you crap on the beach - this place is it! The private infinity pool is fantastic and a welcome cool down after the day.

Piece of Paradise

We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay at Shakti Home. There were 4 people in our group and the home fit all of our needs. It was nice to be able to split the 2 couples up between the master suite and Shaktini suite. It provided the perfect amount of privacy.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS -

Both suites were well appointed with comfortable beds. The rooms were clean. The sounds of the sea were soothing. The patio furniture is very comfortable and is where we spent a lot of our time. The infinity pool is perfect for sunbathing. It is a bit cool, but refreshing in the heat. We took a couple rafts with us, but they have 2 lounge chairs in the water that were nice as well. The wi-fi worked very well. All in all, great!

THE FOOD -

Miss Audrey is simply amazing. Her dishes were all incredible. She crafts amazing meals in a very modest kitchen space. McCarl does a great job assisting her. The grilled fish, jerk pork and pepper steak were our favorite dinner dishes and breakfast never disappointed either. Ask her to make you banana pancakes - they were delicious!

THE STAFF -

As mentioned above, Miss Audrey is great. In between preparing meals, she keeps the home clean and tidy. She also did a great job shopping prior to our arrival, not missing a thing from our list of preferences. McCarl is on-site nearly 24/7 and is a phone call away for any needs should you not be able to locate him on the property. He is knowledgeable about the area and pointed us in the right direction when we went to town to find pizza! We also can't leave Max (the house dog) out. We grew to love having Max around! She is quite the dog - sweet and protective of her home and guests!

We only had a few things that we noticed needed attention, but were pretty easily overlooked -

-The kitchen could use an upgrade as the appliances are dated and the space is pretty cramped. A new refrigerator with a larger capacity would be great. We struggled keeping things cold / frozen as the fridge was packed full.

-The bathrooms could use a little TLC - the shower head in the master bath didn't function as intended and water was usually cold.

-There are 4 bicycles available to use. They have definitely been on several journeys and have some issues.

We will definitely be coming back to Shakti Home! It was sad leaving this piece of paradise, but we will count down the days until we can return!

BOOKING

Booking was easy and received the longest set of directions. We paid offline because TripAdvisor had issues with my card. That was really scary because it cancelled a day before I was to checkin. Thankfully Debiann and team had a quick workaround after I called in panicked. Thanks guys!

DIRECTIONS

Possibly impossible. Lol we found it but honestly only due to a LOT of late night calls and prayers and triple checking the gas. Some short naps, snack stops and so on. It went on forever. Again the team really helped here or I may have just slept in the car. We arrived in the early AM. Very long drive. Be prepared! Instructions are not always translatable at night because there are no lights in some areas. The only guarantee is the lovely voice on the phone ushering you in to a nice meal

MEALS

Audrey is the best. No complaints I have pictures of every meal. They were all picture perfect and even with 5 star reviews she is underrated.

STAFF

All excellent. I was worried about a dog being on site but after she alerted us to a few tourists (before running off to investigate and get a head run) I grew to love Max too!!!

All the staff are excellent and courteous. Sometimes I wish the layout of the main room allowed for more privacy. I didn’t want to be rude while they worked so I usually excused myself to other areas.

BATHROOM, WATER

All good here. The shower head is on reason I booked. Was not disappointed

Outside bathroom is handy and perfect

DESIGN, DECOR

I agree with a review on decor. Naked pictures of the owner was maybe made me feel like I was prying into someone’s life lol. Sofa could be replaced or restuffed. LOVED the Bluetooth and surround sound. Made my trip!! Lots of good music and open air living room was EVERYTHING. Heavy yoga influence. Minimal reflection of Jamaican culture anywhere. Not the people, music, culture or landscape. It’s heavy-handed yoga and Indian appropriation themes throughout. Without context or meaning it just seems like a logo or signage or some religious symbol inscribed everywhere. It felt like there was a not-so-subliminal message throughout the property.

POOL

Great chairs. Great pool. Very cold. Nice to have when you don’t want to or can’t go in the sea.

BEACH and PATIO and ROOF

All perfect and relaxing. Lots of small books to go disappear and unwind alone. The roof is over the back room and there is a nice lounge. There are basically 5 patios in this little property. Exquisite planning for the leisure traveller. My other favourite part of the property. Then when you can’t decide which patio to go relax on, you still have the beach!! Haha! Had breakfast lunch or dinner on the various patios. Love love loved it. Thanks to the owner for this foresight.

ANTS and ROACHES

I saw some beach crabs. Hummingbirds and other birds. Maybe this is why I saw no ants or roaches inside.

Audrey is so efficient. Nothing was left out to attract insects.

There are some by the pool chair but very negligible. Reports have been exaggerated or addressed by the staff.

ROOMS

Only needed one room. AC in the rooms. Well needed. Living room was breezy and cozy. Not the largest room for a big family but perfect for 2

DISHES

the platters were plastic. Plastic plates and cups. Had to ask Audrey not to serve any hot food on plastic. She switched to the ceramic and glass thankfully. I would ask the owner to improve the dining experience a bit. Better utensils, plates, platters. Because the food and location deserve a 5 star table setting

MISC

Enjoyed coconut water smoothies and lots of vegan dishes. There are a lot of local health practitioners like yoga, massage, rasta healing and other wholistic professionals. I loved that. The beach is quiet. No tourists. You can bike or walk around. The place is so idyllic and pretty. Very rural. A man came by selling papayas. We had the best and sweetest papayas and best avocado. Close to the town and lots of activities and adventures.

I could go on and on.

It was divine. I rated 5 stars despite some minor updates to decor and dinner servings. I was so happy here and hope to return again. Thanks for great service and a truly unique property.

PERFECT Beach Villa Getaway

I cannot say enough good things about my week at Shakti Home. The location is unbeatable. I've been all over Jamaica but Treasure Beach is my new favorite spot. The beach is at your doorstep and the town is so welcoming! Miss Audrey is an amazing cook and McCarl makes sure everything is taken care of --- all you have to do is enjoy 🙂 can't wait to go back!

Can't get closer to the ocean than this

This villa is perfectly located in the Treasure Beach area, and right on the beach! All you hear is the sound of the waves, and all you see is the blue ocean. This is an extremely well-kept and comfortable villa. The furnishings (and beds) are comfortable, the pool is pristine, and has a swimming beach only steps away. Audrey the housekeeper is an INCREDIBLE cook. Best food we ate in Jamaica was prepared by her. McCarl was very helpful whenever we needed anything. Max, the dog was a welcome companion (he'd walk with you on the beach, and watch your towel as you swam!). We will definitely be back.

Perfect house in the nicest place in Jamaica

House is beautiful, open to the sea & nature, a beautiful & comfortable place to stay where you are right on the beach. Audrey & McCarl are excellent, everything we needed was provided. The whole Treasure Tours team is amazing, smooth booking, everything easy. Treasure Beach is gorgeous, laid back, excellent vibe, wonderful people.

Best Vacation! In Love with Treasure Beach

Great Value!! Better than any all inclusive especially if you consider the cost of a private swim up pool at an all-inclusive chain, you are saving thousands by staying here comparing the two! Yes you pay for your own food but Audrey handled it all and the cost is reasonable and cheaper than going out to eat. Audrey is an excellent cook too!! Do try the Escovitch fish and Oxtail!! Everything is good!! Breakfast too!! Eat leftovers for lunch. The groundskeeper is always a quick call away, and we always felt safe knowing Maxie the guard dog was on duty too! She's awesome!! Give her some love!! Treasure Beach is our new favorite place!! We love how quiet it is! The beach is all yours at times! Very few vendors shouting to sell you things.. so peaceful!! I recommend Shakti, its good for 1-3 Couples!

Amazing Stay, Ditch the hotels and come here!!”

We bid on a week stay here through the Animal House Jamaica (an animal rescue) and won. Best thing to happen to us!! We typically go to the all inclusive hotels so this trip was breaking the mold for us and we did not regret it. Treasure Beach area is amazingly quiet all you hear is the waves crashing on shore and at most times you are the only person on the beach. Upon arrival the staff Audrey and McCarl make you feel welcome and at home, and the home is amazing from the first step in, it's heaven!! Audrey's cooking is fabulous, we still rave about it, we enjoyed her breakfasts and dinners and typically ate leftovers for lunch!! McCarl makes sure you and your belongings are safe and secure during your stay. Audrey also makes sure the house is clean and also does turndown in the evening. There is also the wonderful guard dog Maxie 🙂 We absolutely fell in love with her and she made our vacation memorable and one of a kind, wouldn't have been the same without her. The Shakti Home consists of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the main house and the Love Shack cottage has a bedroom, bathroom, sitting area, deck and a unique stairway up to a roof deck! This property could easily make 2-3 couples very happy although the 2nd bedroom only has a queen bed and not as large of space as the other two rooms but still very nice. The views from the balcony are gorgeous and there are swimmable areas of the beach within 50 yards of your beach steps, but there is also the super relaxing infinity pool so you never have to go far to cool off. You have full use of the whole property and the only ones there so if you want to run around naked here, you can and no one would know! If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation with little to no vendors and away from all the hustle and bustle than this is the place for you! Will we return? We sure hope so and we will definitely be referring others also!!

most fabulous plase on earth!

I don't know how to put into words the tranquility this place put back into my life. Not only is it one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, but the peace and serenity that dwells here... this is now going to be a yearly departure to feed my tired soul. We have already booked for next year. To the practicalities. It was just myself and my best friend of 30 years. We have been traveling buddies for many years. We were two gals needing a break from our very hectic lives. She lives in Washington, I live in Oregon. We have both traveled extensively. From the Seychelles to Tahiti. Extensively in the Caribbean. All over Europe. My friend was born and raised in Hawaii. Now we believe ourselves to be real beach connoisseurs. This beach was fabulous. While it didn't have the pink sands of Bermuda, the sand was soft, plentiful, and best of all, within steps from the house, I mean literally steps (maybe 5?) from the gate in the front lawn, you are there, with warm ocean water bubbling around your feet. In fact, it made us concerned what would happen in a big storm, would the house be washed away into the sea? Obviously that is not an issue as the house as stood firm for over 20 years, we were told because of the protective nature of the cove, but you are really right there! Oh, and the wonderful little cove. So private! We would usually have the entire beach to ourselves. No joke! Occasional we would see a family playing in the distance, or one or two people would stroll by, but it was rare. And the water! Pure as silk, perfect temperature to be refreshing, but not any cold shock when entering, and calm enough for swimming. My friend is a swimmer. Each morning she would go out into the calm sea and swim. Oh she loved it so, so, much. But the privacy, now to us, this was part of the beauty of the place. We loved the privacy and isolation. If you are in to partying, or having 50 million things to do in a big club like hotel, this is not for you. I did see that there were things to do in the small hotel strip the next bay over, but we didn't try it out, so can't comment. And there was a binder with places to go see, I can't comment on those either. Once we got here, we loved it so much, we couldn't tear ourselves away. It does take a bit to get here. For us, coming from the Northwest, long flights to even get to Montego Bay. And then a long and winding 2.5 hour drive over very bumpy roads, but very well worth it. We didn't try the local sights, we didn't want to leave Shakti home. We joked, (although it was completely true) that it was a swimsuit to nightgown existence. I didn't even put on shoes the first 5 days of our vacation. A true barefoot vacation! And why would we ever want to leave? Everything we wanted was here. Audrey, the cook, lived up to expectations. The lobster casserole that was waiting for us when we first arrived... I still have dreams of it. Each meal was so generous that there was leftovers to be enjoyed the next day for lunch. Then she would make breakfast each day. Whatever we wanted. I cannot express how gorgeous it is to sit eating delicious local fruit each morning on our lanai staring out at the endless beach and ocean,. So for food? It was right there in our beautiful home. We didn't need to leave. How better than that can it get? Then the house itself. So cleverly designed. Every vista opens onto sea views. And what seaviews! I mentioned the beach and cove before. The endless sea is so amazing. We were so impressed we had to look up on google map to even see where we were. (Excellent wifi in the home) We figured if you got on a boat and went straight out from our home, we would end up in Honduras. Nothing but open sea between here and there! Oh that reminds me, Callman (I can't remember his exact name) the gardner/handyman/all around man on the spot, would catch our fish out front in that same sea! Talk about fresh! Back to the house. The decorations were fresh, lovely, and spot on. Everything spotlessly clean. Beds uber comfortable. Bathrooms perfect. I couldn't have designed a place to my desires any better. And the small pool at front between the lanai and the sea. Perfect size! I had brought floaties from home, although they had nice pool lounges already there. We spend 80% of our time in that wonderful infinity pool, reading, napping, and talking. The weather perfect. Sunshine, floating clouds... truly nirvana. Oh, and we did avail ourselves of the massages. Two different times we had someone come to the house and these were fantastic. They were given in the little gazebo steps from the house next to the sea. Best place in the world for a massage! The ocean waves lapping in sound, the cool breeze blowing, the warm sun on our skin, and the massages..... perfect! The final delight of each day and I will end here. The sunsets. Each night so different, and gorgeous. Never seen such sunsets. And the cherry on top. Venus. Yes, we had Venus rising each early evening. We got so we watched for her each night. The stars the most bright and clear from any place I've been on earth. We vowed before we came back next year we were going to take an astronomy class so we could name all these bright stars. I did read someplace that Treasure Beach is one of the top star gazing places on the planet. I can verify that myself. I have been deep on safari in the Sinai desert and have never seen such stars as these. Unbelievable. Must be seen to be believed. Shakti Home the best. I could wax on forever. All I know is I will be back. Next year. And hopefully every year after.
